The Most Mind Blowing Versitile Fruit: Mamey Sapote

We love a good mamey sapote! Its fun to say, its fun to eat. If a sweet potato started growing from trees.... this would be it. 

Since they have been in season we have made ketchup, brownies, BBQ sauce, cake, pizza, and smoothies. 

Mamey Sapote BBQ Recipe:

  • 1 cup Mamey Sapote 
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup any Sour Flower vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire 
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbs black pepper

Mamey Sapote Low Calorie Protein Cake:

  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese 
  • 3 tbs egg whites
  • 2 tbs oat flour 
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup mamey sapote 
  • 1 tbs chocolate chips

Using a hand blender, combine all the ingredients except for the chocolate, those go on top. and place in a small single serving glass baking sheet that can fit in the air fryer. Distribute the chocolate chips on top. Bake at 325F in an air fryer for about 10 min until golden brown. When I say golden, it actually glows! 

Mamey Sapote Ketchup:

  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 2/3 cup mamey sapote
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 3/4 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Blend all the ingredients in a blender or with a hand blender until smooth. Refrigerate for long term preservation. The vinegar will make this keep for as long as it takes to eat. 

Mamey Sapote Brownie:

  • 1 cup mamey sapote
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla
